The President of Jordanian Dietetics Association (JDA).

Narmeen Jamal Al-Awwad is an Associate Professor of Nutrition at the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics/Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences/ The Hashemite University /Zarqa/Jordan since 2014. She was appointed as the Head of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Department since Sep, 2021. She gained her PhD (since 2012), MSc (since 2004), and BSc (since 2000) from the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology/ Faculty of Agriculture/ The University of Jordan. Recently, she was appointed as the President of Jordanian Dietetics Association (JDA).

Dr. Al-Awwad aims to spread the science and awareness of nutrition using various tools such as performing related research, nutrition education and counseling. She is keen in helping people managing their health by having better food choices. Dr. Al-Awwad has participated in many international, regional and national conferences, symposiums and scientific days and has many scientific papers published in refereed scientific journals. Till date, she has published 24 articles. She is dedicated to scientific research; her research interests are: functional foods (probiotics and prebiotics), pediatric nutrition, sport nutrition and dietary patterns associated with chronic diseases.

Currently she is a member in the Health Education Clinic committee / The Hashemite University, member in the technical committee for preparing educational materials of complementary feeding and feeding diversity for children < 5 years old/ Ministry of Health and a member in Jordanian Dietetic Association (JDA) – scientific committee.

Previously, she was the Head of JDA – scientific committee and participated in many local technical committees such as: “the Athletes Food” Committee and “foods for special use” committee in the Jordan -Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) and the Juice and Beverage Committee in the Jordanian Institute for Standardization and Metrology.
